2010 Penn State Homecoming Tailgate – The Menu

The Lot 13 Blog tailgate for the 2010 Penn State Homecoming game against Illinois is going to be a feast.  There are no two ways about it.  Once you read the menu that we have in place for this game, you’ll wish you were joining us!

Once again, the powers that be have chosen an ever annoying 12pm kickoff time.  Not only does the football team traditionally play a “flat” first half in these early games, but it limits our pregame tailgating time.  That means one thing…a less rowdy crowd.  We know the students don’t show up until the end of the first quarter anymore, so let’s do away with these early starts!  Enough complaining, let’s focus on the tailgating.

As is tradition for noon games, we go with a large breakfast, a pregame snack, and then a full post game meal.  Without further ado…..

Breakfast is going to consist of a typical lumberjack breakfast.  The usual eggs, bacon, sausage, and french toast.  We have posted a basic french toast recipe for you but if you want to make it like the restaurants, be sure to watch the video too.  Don’t forget to wash it all down with a cold one and/or one of The Chief’s Bloody Mary’s…a Lot 13 classic.

While temperatures are expected to reach 71 degrees on Saturday, the morning will be a brisk 40 degrees and that means one thing….the first batch of Lot 13 Hot Cider will be brewing!  Homemade (or at least local) apple cider with some Southern Comfort, topped off with whipped cream (extra creamy!).
Prior to game time, around 11am, we’ll be heating up a big pan of PSU Mom’s Buffalo Chicken Dip.  Don’t forget the Tostitos!

After we cheer the  Nittany Lions to a victory over the Illini, we’ll return to the parking lot for a solid dinner.  Who wants to drive home on an empty stomach anyhow?!

Simple and quick is what we’re shooting for with pulled pork sandwiches and another PSU Mom recipe, Apple Crisp.

Last week in What’s Brewing?, we told you about our favorite fall seasonal beers.  We’ll be doing a “Sampler Saturday” for homecoming, where each group brings a sample pack of their favorite beers (or whatever is left over in their fridge!).  You can take it to the bank that we’ll be making selections from last week’s Top Ten list!

Keep tailgating with the best.
