Pump Up the Volume – Klipsch Speakers

Pump Up the Volume – Klipsch Speakers

No tailgate is complete with out some sort of sound system.  After using our car stereos and returning post game to dead batteries, we decided that there must be a better system!  After hours of research, we eliminated many alternatives.

Regular boom-box stereo systems did not pack enough punch and outdoor speaker systems were too expensive.  Complicating matters was the need for something compact.  If you’re going to tailgate with the best, you want to have a powerful sound system!  Finally with the help of a knowledgeable salesman at Best Buy, we figured it out.

The Klipsch – ProMedia 2.1 3-PieceSpeaker System saved the day.  We paired these two speakers and subwoofer with an iPod and the Diehard power supply to form a tailgate sound system that’s envied by everyone.

Why Should I Put This Product in My Starting Lineup?

At 200 watts, you won’t be disappointed with the system and neither will your tailgating neighbors.  Nobody appreciates it when a large frat party parks beside them with huge floor speakers, but the Klipsch system doesn’t cross that line.  With the 12″ subwoofer, you’ll get plenty of power for your money.  The sound quality is exactly what you’d expect from a reputable company like Klipsch….and then some.

Klipsch puts it best when they say: “Kiss lackluster performance goodbye because with our ProMedia 2.1 PC Speakers, you’ll be swept away by the sheer power, detail and emotion of your favorite music, movies or video games. In fact, you won’t believe the outlandish amount of output this system generates until you experience it for yourself.”Klipsch 2.1

The speakers directly hook up to TVs, gaming consoles or other portable devices via a headphone jack and miniplug input.  However, the source must have a non-amplified output to connect to the 2.1 auxiliary input; i.e. a headphone or line level output.

What Will Reduce This Product’s Playing Time?

For all of their punch, these speakers are still classified as computer speakers.  While that helps with size constraints, it also means that your speakers can’t handle the elements.  Let’s face the facts, tailgating in Happy Valley doesn’t offer the same warm weather as Baton Rouge or Tuscaloosa.

We suggest keeping the speakers covered with a soft blanket and if possible, leave them in your trunk (or under the back hatch of your car).

After two years of use, we found that one of the subwoofer DIN cables broke off.  According to several online forums, it appears this is a common problem.  If you can’t fix it yourself, or find somebody local, it is just as cost effective to buy a new control pod as it is to repair the cable.
