Each Tuesday during the football season is when you can expect to see our recommended tailgating menus. Here are the suggestions for week 1 against Youngstown State. Want to see your recipe included? Submit it here
Breakfast
Breakfast should always be the foundation for your tailgating festivities and with the Lot 13 favorite, Breakfast Sausage Casserole, you can’t go wrong. Be sure to add some vegetables, such as peppers, mushrooms, and tomatoes. This is a solid item that will set the tone for a long day. We are also adding assorted fruits to the breakfast menu. Don’t forget to make some of The Chief’s Bloody Mary’s.
Lunch – Pregame
The first game against Youngstown State is one of those pesky noon games – at least for us dedicated tailgaters. Even if you’re in the lot by 8am and eat your breakfast early, lunch always seems rushed. The question is always, “do we eat before or after the game?” Well good news! This week’s menu is designed for not just 2 meals, but 3.
A simple Shredded Beef Sandwich paired with a classic Italian Pasta Salad is just enough food to hold us until the post-game spread. The beef can be topped with any sort of BBQ sauce….and washed down with one of our selected beers (look for this on Wednesday)!
Dinner-Post Game
If you don’t have a turkey fryer, you’re going to be a step behind the Lot 13 Blog post-game spread. The centerpiece of this meal is the deep fried buffalo wings (and celery). You can cover the wings in any sauce you like, but we prefer the classic hot sauce and ranch dressing.
If you’re not into wings, we also are cooking the basic 100% beef hot dogs. No explanation needed!
Don’t forget the chips. It seems impossible, but these new chips from Frito Lay actually taste like BBQ sauce! You have to try a bag soon.
No Penn State victory would be complete without some sort of dessert. Of course, we’re going out in style. How about some homemade Peanut Butter Pie?
